There will be a BBQ and Sports Day, starting at 11:00a.m. on 24th June 2012 at the Scout Hut.

A full programme of events is being planned and will include:

11:00 ‘Berrylands Olympics’
13:00 Group AGM
14:00 Dog Show

A barbeque will be available throughout the afternoon.

Cubs events Jan – April 2010:

Numberworks Thursday 4th February
Berrylands cubs will be going on an outing to Numberworks on Ewell road.
More information is to follow shortly.

Sponsored Walk Thursday 25th March
Berrylands cubs will be undertaking a sponsored walk around Green Lane Park, in order to raise money for future events and treats.

St Georges Day Parade Sunday 18th April
More information to follow

Cub Camp Friday 21st May – Saturday 22nd May
We will be going on a cub camp to Longridge
More information such as a kit list etc. will be made available here closer to the date.

Cub Giant Sleepover Saturday 19th June
The Cub Giant Sleepover will take place again this year. More information including forms and an itinery will be available here closer to the time.

Cub Sports Day Sunday 4th June
Cub Sports day will take place at Imber Court this year. We hope to put forward a larger amount of cubs than last year! More information will be made available closer to the time.

There is No Cubs on the following Dates;

Thursday 3rd of June

Cubs breaks up for the summer on the 15th July and recommences on the 9th of September.

Beavers Upcoming events – Jan to April 2010

Beavers bowling at Tolworth Bowl. Meet 10.45 for 11am on Sunday 7th February 2010. Cost £3. Please give cash to Chris by Monday 25th January or Monday 1st February at very latest and fill in attached application form here.

All beavers who attend must wear beaver uniform and should be able to bowl without use of a ramp. Teams of six will compete against other beaver colonies in the District. Chris cannot be there for this event as he is on a weekend break so at least one parent must be there to supervise the Berrylands beavers.

Beavers Sleepover at Polyapes campsite near Cobham on weekend of Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April. Basic format will be to deliver your child and their kit to Polyapes campsite (map attached) by mid morning Saturday. They sleep over in wooden hut Saturday night. You collect them again Sunday lunchtime. During Saturday and Sunday they will do games and activities (and basic chores like washing up).

At present I am wanting to get some idea of numbers of children who would like to do this. I will be there and so will other (female) qualified leaders. Children should preferably be age 7. Places will be limited to six beavers per colony. A bit nearer the date you will receive a kit list, a permission to camp form and a request for payment (Its likely to be in the region of £20 for the weekend which includes food, rent and activities).

Fireworks Night!

This years Berrylands fireworks night is on Saturday the 5th of November with gates and sideshows opening at 6:30pm. The bonfire will then be lit at 7:30pm and the fireworks display will begin at 8:00pm

Tickets can be bought on the night:
Adults = £7
Children = £4

There will be a BBQ and hopefully we can raise as much for the group as the past few years. See you there!

World Scout Jamboree

Between the 24th July and 12th August, I travelled along with 3,500 others from the U.K to the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. We started off in Denmark for a pre-Jamboree event. This was compiled of sports events, speed boats, theme parks and a party. The main Jamboree first congregated 38,672 scouts in a rural field near Rinkaby. For 12 days we talked, exchanged badges and became friends on the 2.4km wide campsite that was effectively our own town, with hospitals, supermarkets, showers and entertainment. Being in the winter sub-camp, we also had an ice skating rink. Activities were centred around the theme of ‘simple scouting’ and being sustainable.
After this we went to Finland for home hospitality and stayed with hosts, we learnt so much about their culture and they learnt some of ours too! All of the Jamboree was very memorable and it definately was the best 3 weeks of my life.

Explorer Summer Camp

The explorers went on their summer camp this year between the 24th and 31st of July at Thriftwood Campsite in Essex. 8 Explorers attended the camp, taking part in activities such as climbing, kayaking and raft building (with varying success) It was a great camp and thankyou to all the leaders!

Website Rebuild

The website is currently under a complete rebuild, you may be unable to find certain elements of the site and things will be constantly moving. I will try and keep the site in a usable state whilst I am doing this, and hope to have the site back completely by next week.
